Neal Adams Interviews

If you're looking for interviews with Neal, many are being done and being published, possibly as we speak. But there is also a backlog of great information on Neal Adams for those who wish to 'catch up' on his career, contributions and artistic process. Piecing together the clues of how an artist works rarely leads to just one source-- you usually have to consult a few different sources. Fortunately, Neal gives 'good interview,' so feel free to track down these approved sources. One problem with finding this material: print runs and ordering by retailers are typically low, they tend to get snapped up quickly and are rarely re-ordered. The Neal Adams Sketch Book. First, most, best - Designed by Arlen Schumer. Publisher: Vanguard Press. Neal Adams approached by mixing interview with an enormous backdrop of Neal's developmental sketches and preliminaries. Perhaps the best choice for those who want an intuitive glimpse to see more behind the words of Neal--by going straight to the pictures--since they both stand side by side. Comic Book Artist #1 Totally original new Batman cover by Adams (originally roughly penciled 20 years ago) proving great draftsmanship is a constant in great comic art. Features Slug-boy and Pet. Adams was interviewed by this magazine, but a decision was made to get two hits from this creator to continue the interview in a later issue. Arlen Schumer, commercial artist and comic historian (with a PhD in the silver age of comics!) is the interviewer, compiler, and art director of this premier interview. Of all the Adams interviews, Neal likes this one the best. Arlen left out as much as he put in, if not more, and extensive as it is, you're left wanting more. Graphically beautiful and intriguing.
