There's a big misconception that Neal
Adams makes his living drawing comics. However, that is hardly
true at all. In fact, comics don't pay well at all. The real
money brought in by Neal and his art studio, Continuity Studios,
comes from commercial art. That is story boards, comps, advertising,
design for amusement parks and movies, animatics, and animation.
Really, the only value comics has for neal is the love of doing
it.
So fans have been hoping for years to see some of this fantastic
work. Every now and then they get a peek at something or other
but there's so much to see. Neal draws from morning to nigh every
day. The things fans haven't seen is endless.
This year we decided that rather than put copies of art into
portfolios and do drop off and pick up, we would instead go all
the way and print the Neal Adams Continuity Studios Portfolio
as a book. Before the order went to the printer we asked Neal
to print up extras so we could sell them to the fans.
The books have arrived and they look fantastic. There's a wide
variety of subject matter from bottled water advertisements with
mermaids, to cola ads, to cartoony styles and all sorts of great
stuff. This is not a super hero book.
for those of you who are in art school and for those professional
artists out there, this book is your best example of the high
standards ad agencies want to see. if you're drawing comics and
want to make more money, you might consider commercial art. See
what we are talking about in this book.
