I've worked in the toy business
for 6 or 7 years now and always wanted to do resin model kits
for sake of total artistic freedom. I have met a few people from
different companies who were interested in producing my kits
but for the most part I was unable to cut a profitable deal.
I did go through with one sculpture which I had done for Screamin'
Products. Unfortunatly, they didn't tell me they were going under
and I never received a dime for the Miko Robot Killer figure
they produced and 6 other figures were never returned. Doing
model kits was put on the backburner for some time from disappointment.
A half a year ago I managed to shatter my right leg and spent
some time in a wheel chair. During this time, my buddy Ed would
come over and keep me company and he'd ask me to sculpt a woman
for him. And so I designed Catrina, a woman who's village left
here as a sacrifice to spare the town from a dragon. Of course
she chose to kill the dragon and not die and then becomes a dragon
hunter.
As my leg healed I came in comtact with david over at Gemini
Productions and set up a deal to do the molding and casting for
them. The guys at gemini are really great people(for those sculptors
who are looking for a caster) and love the resin kit business.
They pressure molded Catrina and offered me a few tips on selling.
Really wonderful people.
And so we have my first resin kit produced
by myself. I hope you like it and I hope you buy it.

I painted this one up
myself useing a metal rust paint kit. I've always liked the idea
of makeing my work look as if it were cast in metal or carved
from stone. That way it looks more like classical art and your
wife/girlfriend might actually let you keep it in the living
room.

Every Catrina kit comes
with a certificate signed by the artist which can be mounted
to the bottom of the sculpture.
